Toshiba lets HD DVD finally die, releases BDX2000 Blu-Ray player

It was inevitable. Toshiba, the former HD-DVD leader, has now officially gone to the Blu-Ray side with the BDX2000 Blu-ray player. The new Blu-Ray player will support BD-Live (Profile 2.0), REGZA-LINK (HDMI-CEC), 1080p/24 frames per second output, an Ethernet connection, an SD Card slot and Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio support. Look for this player to be released in November for a retail price of $249.99 USD.

Needless to say, the final nail in the coffin of HD-DVD is summed up nicely by the disclaimer in the press release: "This product does not play HD DVD discs."
