Hip-hop headphones release by Dr. Dre and Monster Cable

Rapper and producer Dr. Dre has teamed up with everyone's favorite litigious speaker cable company, Monster Cable, to release the new Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. The headphones were released today and should be available at Apple and Best Buy retail stores, as well as available to order online.

The cans are reported to have been optimized by Dr. Dre himself, and aim to provide studio-like sound to those who feel their current headphones just aren't cutting it anymore. The cans feature extra-large drivers, active noise cancellation, and a built-in digital amplifier. That's a lot of technology to pack into a set of headphones. The package also comes with a carrying case and a Monster iSoniTalk headphone cable.

"Artists and producers work hard in the studio perfecting their sound, but people can't really hear it with normal headphones. Most headphones can't handle the bass, the detail, the dynamics. Bottom line: the music doesn't move you. With Beats, people are going to hear what the artists hear and listen to the music the way they should -- the way I do." says Dr. Dre in a prepared statement.

As usual with Monster products, there's a hefty price tag attached. Try $349.95 USD. Stay tuned to the upcoming reviews to see if all that technology makes the Beats worthy of the lofty price.
