Harman Kardon fans in the U.S., Canada and Mexico can finally get their hands on the company's first Blu-Ray player with the release of the BDP-1.

Harman Kardon Brings its first Blu-Ray Player to North America

After the recent announcement by Harman of its first Blu-ray deck overseas, Harman Kardon has now brought a model to North America. Highlights of the BDP-1 player include BD-Live functionality, a front USB input, HDMI 1.3a, Ethernet, IR-remote in / out jacks and optical / coaxial digital audio outputs. Support for internal decoding of all the major audio formats is included - LPCM, MP3, Dolby® Digital, Dolby TrueHD, DTS®, DTS-HD Master Audio™ and WMA. The BDP 1 also allows for simultaneous JPEG and MP3 playback from discs or USB memory sticks, so you can listen to music while viewing pictures.

If you pay retail, the BDP-1 will set you back a hefty $499 USD. It should start showing up in online stores and brick-and-mortar retailers later this month.
