Evercool Formula 2 Graphics Card Cooler
|
|
So you're playing the best game you've ever played and you just feel like you're "in the zone". You're takin' enemies down left and right and no one can stop you. All of a sudden your screen freezes and you have to reboot. What happened? That'll take the wind out of your sails. After rebooting you discover that your game wasn't saved and now you've got to clear those last 12 checkpoints all over again; for some reason you just don't feel like playing anymore. Why does that happen? Simple... too much heat.
Your graphics card got too hot and produced an anomaly while processing the data it was receiving which, in turn, produced an unrecoverable error and the computer froze in its tracks. Sometimes your graphics driver may automatically reset so you don't have to reboot but most of the time the game is lost anyway. How can you prevent this from happening? Keep your computer cool by adding fans, upgrading your processor's cooling solution and upgrading your graphics card's cooling solution. Most manufacturer's original cooling solutions on graphics cards are just barely enough for average gaming. Hardcore gamers know that it isn't enough for hours of game play. Does Evercool have the solution with the Formula 2 VC-RHE graphics card cooler? Let's see.
Design
The Formula2 VC-RHE is only compatible with NVIDIA cards with 75.4mm diagonally spaced mounting holes . It will not fit cards with the 82.5mm configuration. The incompatible models are: GeForce 8800 Ultra, GeForce 8800GTX and GeForce 8800GTS.
The cooler utilizes an 80mm fan built into a large heatsink with dual heatpipes. Heat travels into the heatsink and through the pipes being dispersed through the fins. The method is similar to the heatsinks that have been used on processor since the X386 and is a time tested and proven method of heat dispersal.

Installation
Installing the Formula 2 is actually very simple for most cards. You unscrew the spring mounted screws and pop the original cooler off and install the Formula 2 with the 4 rubber washers and 4 spring mounted screws that come with it. Do not forget to dab some of the thermal paste, which also comes with the kit, on the graphics processor before mounting the cooler. The cooler gets power for the fan from a 3-pin power lead that is also attached to a Molex power adapter if you need that instead.
Overall, the installation is pretty easy and takes about 15 minutes in total.
