AZZA Helios 910R Case
|
|
The AZZA Helios 910R is the latest PC case from AZZA that includes a full red/black paint scheme and plenty of room for a full system in a mid-sized tower. It is a fully featured PC case for enthusiasts and gamers that utilizes 4 internal fans for plenty of airflow through the case. We put it through the paces to how it stacks up to the competition.
Design
The AZZA Helios 910R uses a large 230mm side fan and has room for a full ATX or Micro ATX motherboard with a bottom mounted power supply. The bottom of the case has vent holes for installing a power supply with its intake toward the bottom or upward from the interior depending on user preference. The case is designed pretty much like your standard mid-tower cases with a row of 5.25 inch bays down the front and comes with a 3 bay 3.5 inch hard drive rack to fit inside the front bays anywhere you like. The USB and audio ports are built into the front of the case, which can be good or bad depending on your preference. I like having these ports easily accessible on the front of the case.
Plenty of fans highlight the cooling capabilities of the Helios 910R - a front 140mm fan on the 3.5 inch bay insert, a rear 120mm fan and the side 230mm fan. These fans provide plenty of cooling for all your components. The case has room for a full ATX motherboard and can easily fit a Micro ATX but I found even the full motherboard gave plenty of room for installation.

Installation
Overall, working on components like installing video cards was quite easy due to the ample room around the motherboard which is nice when you need to get down near the board to unlock the video card. Installing the motherboard and components went easily and the permanent standoffs of the case for most of the motherboard helps with not having to fuss with the screw in posts.
Once I had my system installed everything went fine and I even did this a second time as I did some case changing recently. I pulled that system and installed another which also went quite easily as the case really does have plenty of room to work around inside.
The case paint is not conductive so you should take a little time to scrape paint off contact points for your PSU and motherboard around the IO shield and motherboard mounts. This just means a little extra work but the case paint interior does make for a great looking internal view to show off your system and aside from this it does make a great computer case.

Testing and Performance
Test Setup
- Motherboard: ECS Black P45T-A
- CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.99 Ghz
- Memory: 2 GB Crucial DDR2 PC2-6400
- CPU Heatsink: Evercool HPK-10025EA Heat Pipe CPU Cooler
- Power Supply: Nexus RX-6300 630 Watt PSU
- Hard drive: Seagate 500 GB SATA
I found the AZZA Helios 910R did a great job of keeping both systems I installed very cool and ran well during normal and testing operations. The Helios 910R case provided adequate cooling and airflow with temperatures below what I would want to see for my motherboard, CPU and GPU components.
The case during idle was getting 18 to 19 degrees Celsius for my CPU temperatures with my Intel system and the Evercool CPU cooler. During stress testing with OCCT(OverClock Checking Tool) stressing all four cores and RealTemp monitoring temperatures I was getting around 47 to 50 degrees Celsius for my core temperatures.
These good readings for my core temperatures and the ease of installation with plenty of room for working on the system after installation like replacing the CPU or video cards makes for a great overall case. The AZZA Helios does have a small drawback with the painted case that you should be aware of when installing your system.

AZZA Helios 910R Case
With top-notch cooling, great build quality and a reasonable $80-$90 average online price, there is really a lot to like about the Helios 910R. Other than the small point about needing to scrape off paint around the contact points, I do not find any faults with this case. The red/black paint job looks really nice and sleek and the attention to detail is really nice to see at this price point. Bottom line is that the Helios 910R is an outstanding choice for a mid-tower case.
Pros: Roomy for full ATX motherboard systems with full sized components. Plenty of fans with standard package and room for more. Good cable management. Great looking inside and out.
Cons: Painted interior may require a little scraping for grounding.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5
