Building on their success with the release earlier this year of the AW1 wireless audio adapter, Audioengine has followed up with the release today of the aptly named AW2 Wireless Adapter for iPod.

The adapter kit contains two transmitters for connecting your iPod to a speaker dock, powered speakers or other audio compoents. One transmitter plugs into your iPod and the other USB-based transmitter is plugged into your audio component. The USB-based transmitter also comes with a 3.5-millimeter auxiliary jack.

"It’s exciting to have another wireless product to compliment our already successful AW1 wireless adapter," said Brady Bargenquast, Audioengine co-founder. "The Audioengine W2 gives you the convenience of using your iPod as a remote control and is the perfect way to get great quality music wirelessly to your stereo."

The wireless adapter kit uses the WiFi frequency band to transmit uncompressed CD-quality sound, and promises no static or other interference from other wireless transmissions. For those who are technilogically challenged, the setup involves little more than unpacking the box and plugging both transmitters into your iPod and speakers. If the adapter works as well as the AW1 wireless adapter does, then there is no doubt you'll be enjoying crystal-clear audio from the new AW2 adapter.

Pricing is set at $169 USD and the AW2 wireless adapter can be purchased starting today.
