Amazon.com Launches ''High-Def 101'' Site to Educate Consumers About HD

In hopes that by educating consumers about HD, they can increase sales of high-definition TVs, DVD players and home theater equipment - Amazon today launched their "High-Def 101" site to provide a comprehensive destination where the less technically inclined can get all the information they need about HD home entertainment. The stated goal of the site is to alleviate confusion about HD, and to present the facts about HD products in a clear and simple way.

The site consolidates articles, FAQs, blog posts from home theater gurus and a glossary of HD terminology into a one-stop-shop for education and shopping. Visitors have access to content including educational videos and weekly blog posts highlighting the latest trends in the world of HD.

"There are few resources today where the public can find simple and concise information about high definition," said Peter Faricy, vice president of movies and music at Amazon.com. "Our goal with the Amazon High-Def 101 customer knowledge center is to provide our customers with centralized, easy to-understand information that will help demystify high-definition entertainment. Amazon High-Def 101 is a place where anyone can come to learn and ask questions about the complex HD landscape. We will continue to expand and evolve the site to meet our customers’ needs."

The site caters to the less experienced and less knowledgeable consumers, and does contain a lot of useful information for those who don't keep up on all of the latest news and developments. For those who have visited the site and browsed through the content, I would be interested to hear your impressions and thoughts.
