Samsung SPH-a840 Cell Phone - sleek, well designed phone with lots of features

Background
My old cell phone, an LG Touchpoint 1100, just was not cutting it anymore. I had had it for almost 4 years, and it was literally starting to fall apart. After getting dropped more than once over the years, the battery had started to become detached from the phone. This resulted in it becoming unreliable, as it would randomly lose power as the battery became slightly detached from the phone during everyday use. It got to a point where I started missing calls because the phone would magically turn itself off. The screen still worked fairly well, but the left-most edge had become unreadable. I looked into switching wireless carriers, but I have good service coverage in my area with Sprint. In addition, with the trade-in program that Sprint offers, I was able to trade-in my old phone and get a $150 credit (only applies if you sign up for a 2-year agreement) toward any new phone of my choice.

I do not have a landline, so my new phone had to be small enough to fit in my various pockets and also had to be reliable enough for everyday use. I chose the Samsung SPH-a840 based on the features it offered, the attractive design and the good experience I had with a previous Samsung cell phone. With the rebate that Sprint was running at the time, I ended up only paying $30 tax for the SPH-a840. I have been using it for over 4 weeks now.
