Panasonic LT-61LCX65 61" TV Conclusion

Review: Panasonic LT-61LCX65 61" TV

5 Star Rating (5 star rating)

Conclusion
Overall, I am extremely happy with this TV. I went to Circuit City and Best Buy and compared it to models from Sony, Samsung and Hitachi. It performs as well or better, and has as many or more features, dollar-for-dollar, compared to the other similarly sized LCD projection TVs on the market. I have not seen any "screen door effects" or other artifacts in any of the TV shows, movies or video games I have played. The slim design, clean appearance and black edging around the screen make it an attractive addition to my home theater set up. The only reservation I have with giving it a full 5 star rating is the 1 year / 90-day lamp bulb warranty. But since it has performed flawlessly thus far, I will give it a 5 star rating. I will update the review if any issues arise.

Review Update: Feb. 15th, 2006

I have received a number of emails asking me to provide an update to my review of the Panasonic PT-61LCX65 HDTV, so I wanted to add a 6 month update.

I'm still extremely happy with this HDTV and have not experienced any issues. I have not found anything to complain about, really. The picture looks as good as it did on the first day I got it home and fired it up. My wife and I have watched at least a dozen DVD's, dozens of football and basketball games in HD and a handful of movies on cable. The HD shows and the DVD's still look amazing with clear, crisp images. I have not seen any of the "screen door effect" artifacts that are found in some rear-projection LCD HDTV's. The older cable shows still look grainy and jagged, but there is nothing that a TV will do to improve such a low quality signal.

I've had no issues with the lamp bulb. I would estimate that we watched the TV between 1-2 hours a day over the past 6 months. The TV is as bright as it was when I first bought it, and colors are still faithfully reproduced.

Any questions or comments? Feel free to email me and I will update the review with additional info.
